Rear Corners and Primer

The rear corners we always going to need a lot of filling and shaping as it was where lots of curves and corners met, and while we were looking at what to do we came up with a plan that would allow the rear undertray to mount to the bodywork. The sheet of MDF you see sticking up at the back has been set to the 12-15 degs we reckon gives best ground effect at this ride height, so the undertray will come directly from the rear bulk head, curve up under the rear diff/chassis and then attach the flat area on the rear corners of the body work, plus an extra support from the chassis.

With a thick layer of high build primer sprayed on it shows up the imperfections in the plug, but we are huge;ly surprised how little work there is left to do, with just a few bulges here and there needing to be built up/rubbed down. The biggest error is that the offside rear wheel arch is about 10mm narrower than the nearside, but this is easily fixable (according to dad), it can be easily cut off and spaced out,  the refilled and smoothed. Obviously we then have to go over the entire car with fine grit paper and get a decent finish for the mould maker. The mould guy has said that as long as its a reasonable finish, he can polish the mould up to get rid of any minor imperfections.  So he she outside, all primed up.....

Fingers crossed she will be in the mould shop within in the next 2 weeks and we can crack the moulds off in time to take the buck to the stoneleigh kit car show on 8th May
